Thrift and the City: Tampa Bay Thrift Stores as Sex and the City Icons

Because Pride fashion deserves a little chaos, camp, and character energy.

Pride Month is all about self-expression — and what better way to show the world who you are than through an outfit that cost $7 (unlikely, but we can dream) and has a story.

These four Tampa Bay thrift stores aren’t just resale havens: they each channel the very specific chaos, charm, and camp of our favorite Sex and the City queens.

Carrie Bradshaw – Wendy’s Closet on Central

Eclectic, fabulous, and bursting with queer joy.
Wendy’s Closet is Carrie in resale form. It’s run by LGBTQ+ locals, with proceeds supporting HIV/AIDS services, and the racks are full of bold prints, vintage glam, and wildcards that just work — even when they shouldn’t.

Miranda Hobbes – Goodwill Superstore on 34th Street

Rainbow handkerchief bought from St. Pete’s Goodwill circa last Pride 2024. It was probably Target originally but I’m cheap. Price: $5.50. Photo by Abby Baker.

No frills, all potential.
This massive Goodwill is Miranda’s thrifting spirit guide. It’s efficient, practical, and packed with possibility. Also — Goodwill has the lowest prices around. Even though that’s not totally Miranda’s vibe, you know she appreciates fair pricing. Bonus: there’s probably something for the Steve in your life, too.

Charlotte York – Revolve Tampa

Pride shoes purchased at Revolve for $23. These are so Carrie coded. Photo by Abby Baker.

Tasteful, tailored, and just a little bit smug.
Revolve is the kind of consignment store that sells frilly dresses, vintage purses, and just the right amount of curated luxury. It’s a little expensive — but it’s Charlotte, darling. Just maybe don’t wear any of the leather kitten heels you find here to the Pride parade unless you want to Charlotte-style suffer.

📍 4048 W Kennedy Blvd, Tampa, FL 33609

Samantha Jones – Designer Consigner of St. Pete

Unapologetically bold.
This upscale consignment boutique is pure Samantha: hot labels, fierce silhouettes, and not a single item that whispers. Don’t be surprised if you walk out with a fur-trimmed blazer and a new lease on life. It’ll be $60, but it’s an investment piece.

📍 6832 22nd Ave N, St. Petersburg, FL 33710
