Pride in St. Pete lasts all month, but the parade? It’s one sweaty, glorious day — and it can be a beast. Between the heat, the sweat coming off the mesh, and the occasional protester, you need to come prepared.

We asked a few iconic Tampa Bay queens (and kings!) how they keep it cute and collected all day long.

📍 St. Pete Pride Parade Saturday, June 28, 2–10 p.m. in downtown St. Pete Catch the parade from North & South Straub Park.

Justine B. Knights

This Tampa-based stunner is known for big glam and high-energy shows at Southern Nights.

“A clack fan is a must-have! It keeps you cool and it’s fun to clack throughout all the Pride events you attend.”

“And if you run into protestors — ignore them. They want a reaction. Be the bigger person, move on, and keep celebrating Pride.”

Apollo Infiniti

Apollo Infiniti

A gender-bending drag king and staple of Ybor’s nightlife scene.

“My biggest tip? Drink two glasses of water for every alcoholic beverage you have! The heat and booze combo will mess you up fast. Pace yourself and call an Uber if you need to — no shame in getting home safe.”

🎤 Catch Apollo Infiniti live at Cocktail St. Pete on June 28.

Mr. Sissy Gripp

Mr. Sissy Gripp

This St. Pete performer is more than a drag queen — they’re a creative director and activist.

“This month, and every month, it is important to never hold back! Whether you’re deciding what to do with your day, what career you want, what you want to create, or even what you want to wear, never hold back! Take the scary jumps and just go for whatever it is you want, no matter what other people think.”

🎉 You can catch Mr. Sissy Gripp performing at Double Scorpio - Techno Pride After Party, produced by their own company, Gripp Entertainment Group.

Editor’s Note: I’ve been to around 20 Pride parades and even survived World Pride in NYC back in 2019. I’m not a drag queen, but I do have two tips:

💵 Bring cash — for tipping queens and for those mystery street margaritas and meat sticks.🎒 F*** a purse. Fanny pack or bust.
