Swords, Sorcery, and Synth: freeFall Theatre Announces New 80s Musical Parody 'Bash of the Titans'

by Avery Anderson

Get ready for a summer filled with togas, sea monsters, and a heavy dose of 1980s nostalgia. St. Petersburg’s freeFall Theatre has officially announced its upcoming production, Bash of the Titans, a brand-new musical parody party that hilariously blends ancient Greek mythology with 1980s fantasy films and pop culture. Co-created by the creative trio of Eric Davis, Matthew McGee, and Michael Raabe, the show promises to be "the party of the century".

A Mythic Mashup

Following in the footsteps of their previous hit productions like OZ: A New Musical, War of The Worlds, and an intergalactic reimagining of The Pirates of Penzance, the creative team is setting its sights on Mount Olympus. Bash of the Titans centers on Perseus, the favored son of Zeus, who finds himself in hot water after ticking off a vengeful goddess. To win the heart of the beautiful Andromeda, Perseus must embark on a series of wild and dangerous quests.

Billed as an 80s jukebox musical, the adventure is packed with romance, laughs, and perhaps a Titan or two—all set to a nostalgic soundtrack with musical arrangements and orchestrations by Michael Raabe.

A Powerhouse Cast Takes the Stage

The production features a stellar lineup, led by Broadway powerhouse Kissy Simmons—famed for her historic run as Nala in Disney's The Lion King. Joining her is the dynamic Victor E. Chan, whose extensive credits span major regional productions, stage favorites around the world, and Disney theatrical entertainment.

Audiences will also welcome back beloved freeFall favorites Matthew McGee, Heather Baird, and Taylor Harley, who return to the stage with their signature wit and warmth. Making her official freeFall Theatre debut is Kathlynn Rodin, fresh off her performance in Dolly: A True Original Musical.

Behind the scenes, Eric Davis pulls double duty as both director and the production/video designer, while also co-writing the book and lyrics alongside McGee and Raabe. Tom Hansen returns to design the set and lighting, while Nathan Doyle anchors the production as the sound engineer.
