Dove Bomb creates music that unifies souls – so get 'Shattered'
By Claire Farrow
Heavy guitar riffs mixed with hauntingly beautiful vocals (and a few screams) barely scratch the surface of Dove Bomb’s debut single Shattered.
The hard rock/heavy metal band was only created in 2024, but Dove Bomb’s members – singer Chloe Gilbert, guitarist Brett Milan, and drummer Dylan Cofini – have already found synergy and are a new “powerhouse” in the heavy metal music scene here in Tampa Bay. Plus, they’ve even expanded to include two new members – bassist Kylie Hammonds and guitarist Katelyn Doobay.
The goal that brought the group together? – “[T]o create music that unifies souls,” they say. “What inspired us wasn’t just the act of making noise, but the deeper connection we all feel toward music itself. Music isn’t plain sound—it’s a language beyond words, a kind of sonic energy that communicates with the spirit. That belief is what brings Dove Bomb to life.”
That sonic energy communing with spirit is exactly what listeners get with Shattered, set to be released on Oct. 24. But it’s not easy to nail down Dove Bomb’s sound (and that’s a good thing).
“Part of what makes Dove Bomb so multifaceted is our robust influences. From hardcore to classic rock, and from metal to pop, Dove Bomb blends elements from numerous genres to create a listening experience that anyone can enjoy.”
And while Dove Bomb is all about honoring the past and those that came before them, they’re more so looking to push the envelope and bring something new with their music.
“Our sound blends elements of the past with a modern, youthful energy,” they explained. “We love honoring the sounds that shaped us, but we’re just as interested in pushing boundaries and creating something fresh. It’s less about choosing between honoring or disrupting the past and more about blending the two into something that feels unique.”
As to why Shattered is the band’s debut single – there are a few reasons. Perhaps most importantly? It was the first song Gilbert, Milan, and Cofini wrote together as Dove Bomb.
“Shattered is especially meaningful to us because it’s the very first song we ever wrote together. It carries the energy of our beginnings and everything we’ve built since then. It felt natural that we’d release that one first.”
Beyond that, the band says the song “is a representation of how far we’ve come since our fruition. At its core, Shattered is about transformation. It has this metaphysical energy, like breaking apart only to rebuild stronger, that resonates deeply with us.”
Dove Bomb says their roots being firmly in Tampa Bay have been essential to their growth and burgeoning success as an up-and-coming hard rock/heavy metal music act.
“Tampa Bay’s often called the heavy metal capital of the world, and for good reason,” they said. “Being rooted here has been huge for our growth. The scene’s insanely supportive, and everyone’s down to collaborate and mutually level up. At the end of the day, collaboration is key to success.”
And that support is extended to Dove Bomb’s listeners and fans. Shattered, they explained, is a song meant to pick people up and motivate them to keep going and not give up.
“If we could put Shattered into one listener’s headphones, it’d be someone who’s at a point in their life where this song could really hit home,” they said. “Someone who needs that extra spark to keep building, keep grinding, and keep chasing what they believe in.”
