Arts Passport Book Club

In partnership with Tombolo Books
The Arts Passport Book Club offers members a chance to explore literature that connects with upcoming plays, art shows, or exhibitions. Each month, we select a book tied to the artistic themes of a partner organization, giving members the opportunity to engage more deeply with the work.
Those interested can attend the show or exhibition together (a group rate will be available, though tickets must be purchased separately), fostering meaningful conversations and a stronger connection to the arts community.

October Arts Passport Book Club: Lies in Bone with special guest Natalie Symons
hosted at freeFall Theatre
This October, we’re reading Lies in Bone by award-winning playwright and author Natalie Symons — a darkly funny, sharply observed novel that digs into the secrets we inherit and the ones we create.
Then, we’ll gather at freeFall Theatre for a special book club discussion with Natalie Symons herself. Expect an intimate conversation about the novel’s twists, truths, and inspirations — plus a peek at what’s next.
Book Club Gathering: October 5, 11:00 AM at freeFall Theatre
11:00 AM: Book discussion with Natalie Symons
Why now? You can also catch Symons onstage later in freeFall’s production of Deathtrap, running October 24–December 7.

November Arts Passport Book Club: Night
In partnership with the Florida Holocaust Museum
This November, we’re reading Night by Elie Wiesel — a searing memoir of survival, silence, and bearing witness. With unflinching clarity and poetic restraint, Wiesel recounts his experiences during the Holocaust and calls us to remember what should never be forgotten.
Our gathering will take place on November 9 at 11:00 AM, a date of solemn significance marking the anniversary of Kristallnacht. After our book discussion, we’ll take a guided tour of the newly reopened Florida Holocaust Museum, exploring how the echoes of history shape the present.
Book Club Gathering:
November 9, 11:00 AM at the Florida Holocaust Museum
– 11:00 AM: Book discussion
– 12:00 PM: Museum tour
Arts Passport Member Perk:
Free copy of Night, to be picked up at Tombolo Books and free museum admission
Optional reading: Open Heart, Wiesel’s later reflection on life, legacy, and human connection.
Join us for a powerful conversation on memory, justice, and resilience — and experience the museum’s next chapter in remembrance and education.

December Arts Passport Book Club: My Broken Language
In partnership with Stageworks Theatre
In December, we’re reading My Broken Language by Quiara Alegría Hudes — a memoir as musical and defiant as the women who raised her. Blending English and Spanish, Philly grit and Puerto Rican poetry, Hudes charts a coming-of-age shaped by language, lineage, and the unshakable power of storytelling.
Then, we’ll head to Stageworks Theatre to see Latin History for Morons by John Leguizamo — a one-man comedic crash course that’s as hilarious as it is historical.
Book Club Gathering:
December 7, 12:30 PM at Stageworks Theatre
– 12:30 PM: Book discussion
– 3:00 PM: Latin History for Morons performance
Arts Passport Member Perk: Free copy of My Broken Language, to be picked up from Tombolo Books and a ticket to the show
Come for the book, stay for the show — and leave with your mind expanded and your soul stirred.
